Important Update for Texas Physicians and Laboratories

House Bill 2330, passed by the Texas Legislature in 2009, requires Texas laboratories performing a serum creatinine test on an individual 18 years of age or older to calculate the person’s dGFR (or an alternativeequivalent calculation) and include it in their reported results.
Physicians who request a serum creatinine test are required to provide all clinical and demographic information needed to calculate the eGFR to the laboratory.
